THE ROTARY CLUB OF CORNER BROOK SCHOLARSHIP
The Rotary Club of Corner Brook will sponsor a graduating student from high school who is intending to pursue a career in music in accordance with these rules:
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating student from high school intending to study music at a post-secondary institution. The student must provide proof of acceptance into the music school of his/her chosen university once confirmation of same is received. The application form may be obtained from the Administrative Coordinator of the Rotary Music Association.
The scholarship is based on a high school student doing well in the current Rotary Music Festival.
The applicant must provide a current high school transcript.
The applicant must provide two letters of reference from non-relatives.
The applicant must provide a letter stating why he/she is suitable to receive this scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded on the sole recommendation of the adjudicators of the Rotary Music Festival Association. The committee members of the Association, in consultation with the adjudicators, may in their absolute discretion decline to award the scholarship.
The applicant must provide proof in each of the two years he/she receives the scholarship, subsequent to the drop date for courses, that he/she is still enrolled in the Faculty of Music as a full-time student. Failure to provide confirmation of full-time enrollment in the Faculty of Music will result in a forfeiture of the scholarship funds.
The scholarship will be paid directly to the university in two installments; the first installment will be paid after confirmation of full-time enrollment in the Faculty of Music is received for the first university year and the second installment will be paid after confirmation of full-time enrollment in the Faculty of Music is received for the second university year.
An alternate for the scholarship will be also named who will be eligible to receive any unused scholarship funds that the scholarship winner does not claim. This alternate will also have to meet all the above-noted criteria in order to obtain the scholarship.
The scholarship will be announced at the awards ceremony following the final concert of the Rotary Music Festival.
The application and accompanying documents must be submitted to the Administrative Coordinator at least two days before the beginning of the festival
An applicant shall be a bona fide resident of the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador.
The applicant shall be under the age of 25 years at the date of commencement of the current Music Festival.
A person who is engaged in, or has been registered for, full time studies in music at the university or equivalent level is not eligible for the scholarship.
A person who has already been awarded the scholarship is not eligible for the scholarship again.
The scholarship shall be used within 24 months from the date of its award unless the committee members of the Association agree to an extension, which, in any case, shall not be for more than 12 months, shall not be for more than 12 months.
