Entrants recommended for the Rose Bowl competitions shall perform on the date and at the time for which the competition is scheduled.  An entrant who has been recommended for a competition and who cannot perform may not have the performance rescheduled.

To qualify for a Rose Bowl competition an entrant must receive a mark of not less than 85% in the class from which he or she is chosen.  If two entrants are recommended, one of them may be a second-place winner in the class from which he or she is chosen provided the first-place winner in that class is also recommended. It is in the absolute discretion of the adjudicator in each relevant section whether to make a recommendation, whether to recommend one or two entrants, and whom to recommend.

A Rose Bowl entrant may only perform one discipline and, if chosen for two, the student has to make the choice.  The adjudicator will choose an alternate for their particular category.

In a Rose Bowl competition, a vocalist participant is permitted to perform up to three pieces.  All performers shall be permitted to perform a minimum of 10 minutes but no performance is to exceed 15 minutes.  Times will be strictly enforced.

The pieces may be chosen from the performer’s concert group or, at the discretion of the adjudicator, from another class.

A panel of at least three of the adjudicators who adjudicated at the festival shall decide a winner, if any, in each Rose Bowl competition or they may, in their absolute discretion, decline to recommend an award of a Rose Bowl.  Winners will be announced with the winners of other scholarships and awards at the final concert.

The perpetual Senior Rose Bowl is dedicated to the memory of Hayward H. Matthews, the founder and first President of the Rotary Club of Corner Brook Music Festival Association.
